I mentioned on the show that I played at a night club last night, The Hi Tone. It was a birthday celebration for Ross Johnson. I’ll get into a conversation about Ross on a future broadcast. Our set was fun and short. It reminded me the 1980’s. There was a sparse crowd, but fun nonetheless, with Jimi Inc, Marcia Claire Clifton, Amy Gassner of The Klitz, and Marilyn Albert hanging out. Marcia and Marilyn went to the Reigning Sound show, where Marilyn for a $20 bill. She could have kept it, instead she bought Krystal burgers and brought them to the club.
On this show, nothing but songs from A Little More Time with Reigning Sound. I had a great time putting this one together and I hope you liked listening to it. More information on Reigning Sound and the album are on Bandcamp, or a record store near you.

On the show today I talked about my favorite BBQ place in Memphis, Marlowe’s. Is it the best? Hell if I know. There are so many great BBQ places here. I don’t ever get into that discussion. There are places I prefer over others, but I can’t say which is the best!

Friday night, Jack Obivian and The Sheiks, and Fr. (Nick Diablo, Viva L’American Death Ray) played a show from the roof of The Lamplighter. The Lamplighter started doing these shows during the pandemic. I hope the shows continue when the pandemic ends. You can always expect fun and interesting stuff to do in Memphis.

Today is Robert Johnson’s birthday. It never occurred to me until today that he was only 27 when he died. Memphis native Kat Moore is a writer living in Texas right now and contributed this piece about Robert to Rolling Stone Magazines, Telling Stories In Stereo. Kat found redemption at 27, whereas Robert met his fate at 27, joining the famed 27 Club and giving birth to his mysterious and mythological life. You can follow Kat on Twitter, @inabluefog
